Coleraine physio takes on new role in world-leading Pilates organisation
From August 2017, North Coast Pilates based in Coleraine will become the Northern Ireland Regional Training centre for APPI Pilates teachers.
Chartered physiotherapist and owner of North Coast Pilates, Lizzy Caldwell, will assume the role of APPI Pilates presenter bringing her passion, knowledge and experience to the next generation of Pilates instructors.
North Coast Pilates is a client with Island Marketing Client on Project Alchemy, which offers bespoke business support to businesses in the Causeway Coast and Glens Council area.
The APPI – The Australian Physiotherapy and Pilates Institute – is a global organisation founded by two physiotherapists who modified the application of Pilates principles, and is now practiced by a select number of qualified physiotherapists, osteopaths, chiropractors and other medical practitioners around the world.
Lizzy is one of the few practitioners in Ireland who is qualified to deliver this form of Pilates to patients and to train suitably qualified professionals.
The essence of the APPI approach involves looking at three core areas – pain, pathology and function. Using this approach, Pilates movements are created to form a deeper understanding of injuries and to rehabilitate painful muscles.
Lizzy is a leading provider of physiotherapy-led Pilates in the local area. She has over 17 years experience as a physiotherapist assessing and treating musculoskeletal, orthopaedic and sports conditions and injuries in both the NHS and private sector.
Established in 2009, her business is based in Énergie Fitness in the town, and attracts a loyal and growing clientele including pregnant and post natal mums, children, teens, men and devoted sportspeople.
Lizzy says, “I’m delighted to be taking on the role of APPI Regional Training Centre in Northern Ireland.
There’s a great deal of interest in physio-led Pilates and it’s great to be providing a service that can provide enjoyment, relaxation and in some cases, dramatically improve the quality of our clients’ lives.
In my role with the APPI, I want to spread to word about APPI Pilates and see more practitioners qualified to deliver this in the years ahead.”
North Coast Pilates is the only dedicated Pilates Studio in the area, and the recent addition of a state-of-the-art reformer studio at the practice is set to keep the business growing in the future.
