Water Tecnik provide complete wastewater solutions to food processors across Ireland
Based just outside Banbridge, Co. Down, local engineering entrepreneurs Adam Mackin and Dean Church established Water Tecnik to provide complete wastewater solutions to the food processing industry across Ireland.
The business, which is supported by Intertrade Ireland, has gone from strength to strength since start up, providing turn-key effluent treatment installations in sectors including dairy and meat processing.
Water Tecnik work with Fred C Robinson
Most recently, Water Tecnik have successfully completed a DAF (Dissolved Air Flotation) project for the Fred C Robinson processing plant based in Ballyclare, Co Antrim, one of the oldest pig meat processors in Ireland.
FC Robinson use potable water within their pork processing facility to wash out and clean production vessels, work areas and processing equipment. The trade effluent produced during the factory wash down operations exits the production facility, where it joins the main sewage system.
Northern Ireland Water enforce strict discharge limits on all trade effluent producers to ensure that the local wastewater treatment infrastructure does not become overloaded. The senior management team at FC Robinson contacted Water Tecnik to ensure that their wastewater is fully compliant, given the high volume of suspended solids, fat, oil and grease that the plant regularly produces.
Following several site visits and trials, dissolved air floatation (DAF) was deemed the most suitable method for effluent treatment. Water Tecnik has now installed a completely customised DAF system for FC Robinson, which incorporates the innovative Nikuni white water generation pump. Clients can be fully confident that Water Tecnik’s systems are designed and customised to meet their unique requirements.
