Pioneering company helps Limerick school learn smarter
Smarter Concepts is a Northern Ireland business helping commercial clients and schools re-imagine their workspaces with the clever use of writable, projectionable walls and innovative paints, wallpapers and office furniture.
The team, lead by Dungannon man Darren Toner, has recently helped Limerick Educate Together Secondary School makeover two classrooms in advance of a wider scale fit out.
The full scale project will entail the installation of ‘smarter surfaces’ in 50 classrooms, science labs, tech rooms and sports halls in a new, purpose-built facility in Castletroy by September 2022.
Eoin Shinners, Principal of ETSS, explained why he has bought into Darren’s smart concept:

Smarter Concepts redefine the traditional classroom and provides teachers and students with workspaces that support learning in a collaborative and fun way.”
Darren Toner, MD of Smarter Concepts, explained why cross border support from Intertrade Ireland had proved to be invaluable in pushing ahead with the project.
“Trading conditions are obviously very tough at the moment and a lot of projects are on hold. Intertrade Ireland support has been of great benefit to us at the present time.
Support from Island Marketing Clinic under the E-merge programme has enabled us to take our digital marketing strategy to the next level and reach out to potential clients such as ETSS in Limerick”
Limerick ETSS will be engaging with the local business community to help them fund the new initiative at Castletroy.
Major local employer Analog Devices is already signed up to sponsor one of the walls in the new school and ETSS is on the look-out for more sponsors to come on board and help new generations of students learn smarter in years to come.
